Manchester City Rejects Barcelona's Offer

Manchester City has rejected the offer made by Barcelona for the services of Portuguese player Joao Cancelo during the current summer transfer window. Cancelo had played for Barcelona last season on loan before returning to the Citizens this summer.

According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," despite Cancelo's contract with City extending until the summer of 2027, the English club is not considering reintegrating the Portuguese full-back into the squad for the upcoming season. The Spanish publication indicated that Cancelo may also not join Manchester City's preparation period in the United States.

Sources familiar with the negotiations regarding the Cancelo deal between City and Barcelona revealed that the Catalan offer is far below the minimum expectations of the English club. They clarified that Manchester City has sent a clear message to Barcelona, stating: "Cancelo will not be given as a gift," indicating that the offer made by Barcelona is still less than what is required.

The sources also mentioned that Barcelona has a problem with the high salary of the Portuguese full-back, which the club cannot afford due to its current economic situation. However, Cancelo is willing to sacrifice a portion of his salary to facilitate his departure from Manchester City.
