The Global Council of the Cedar Revolution issued the following statement: "Following the action of the Lebanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs under the orders of the Iranian occupier to halt what it claims are preparations in the Security Council to change the rules of engagement for international forces, it is important for the Global Council of the Cedar Revolution to emphasize the following:
- The Lebanese government, which obeys the orders of the armed party, does not represent the Lebanese people, especially at this stage.
- The Foreign Minister, who invents issues to portray himself as a hero fighting to prevent UN forces from implementing Resolution 1701, which prohibits the presence of armed militias at least in the operational area of these forces, is a matter that invites ridicule.
- This action is merely a theatrical response devised by Hezbollah to attempt to suffocate the project of the opposition MPs who have raised their voices toward the implementation of international resolutions, so that it seems as if a minister in this puppet government has managed to challenge the UN and prevent the implementation of its resolutions; thus, they should not dare to think about approaching the international community.
- What is required from the Lebanese MPs who signed the petition calling for the implementation of international resolutions today is to confront the attempts of deception carried out by the so-called Ministry of Foreign Affairs' actors. Instead of refraining from escalating positions and appeasing, as if the play has already been performed on them, they should hasten to submit a memo to the UN Security Council demanding clearly that it works towards the complete implementation of international resolutions, even if this requires placing them under Chapter VII.
- The Global Council of the Cedar Revolution will submit a memo to the UN Security Council in this regard, supporting the demands of the Lebanese people and their elected representatives for the implementation of international resolutions across all Lebanese territory."
