Member of the "Strong Republic" bloc, MP Ghiyas Yzbek, sent a letter to the Minister of Interior in the caretaker government, Bassam Mawlawy, urging him to intervene quickly to stop an environmental massacre taking place in Wadi Harba, located between the regions of Batroun and Jbeil. The letter stated: "Wadi Harba is facing systematic tree cutting at the hands of the individual known as Diab Al-Hassan from Dinniyeh. The security stations in Hfaid and Batroun do not intervene, claiming that the area of the massacre falls within the jurisdiction of the other station. Additionally, the central operations in the security forces turn a blind eye, and those insisting on stopping the illegal lumberjack are told in the police stations that he is supported and stronger than the state. Your Excellency, we call on you to intervene because the valley is historical and sacred, and its greenery has endured for ages. It is noteworthy that the area still does not resemble that where the martyr Elias Al-Hsroni was assassinated, and we will not accept it becoming so. It is known that Diab Al-Hassan bribes those who take bribes and threatens the honorable with his chainsaw, bolstered by Hezbollah. Mr. Minister, recordings, videos, and threats are available should you wish to pursue and put an end to this crime and bring to justice the perpetrator, those who protect him, and those who collude with him in sharing the profits."
