Massive Russian Attack on Energy Infrastructure in Ukraine

The Ukrainian Ministry of Energy announced that "Russia launched a massive attack late Friday into Saturday on energy infrastructure in western and southern Ukraine." The ministry reported "damage to facilities of Ukrenergo (the national electricity company) in the Zaporizhia and Lviv regions," mentioning that two employees were hospitalized due to injuries in Zaporizhia. In contrast, the Russian Ministry of Defense noted that "Russian forces conducted 14 large-scale strikes last week with high-precision ground and air weapons, in addition to using attack drones, resulting in the destruction of storage facilities, airports, substation power plants, and sites for preparing drone boats." The ministry also announced targeting temporary deployment points of national and foreign mercenary formations. Russian officials pointed out that "Ukrainian drone attacks led to the disruption of two electrical substations in Energodar, which serves the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant controlled by Russia, cutting off electricity to most of its residents."
