The Palestinian Red Crescent announced that "Israeli forces surrounded two more hospitals in Gaza today, Sunday, and are besieging the medical teams inside them under heavy fire, while Israel stated that it had arrested 480 militants in the ongoing clashes at the Al-Shifa medical complex in Gaza."
It clarified in a statement that "one of its staff members was killed when Israeli tanks suddenly advanced into the areas surrounding Al-Amal and Nasir hospitals in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, amid intense shelling and gunfire."
The Red Crescent added that "Israeli armored forces closed off Al-Amal Hospital and carried out extensive demolition operations in its vicinity," noting that "all of our teams are in severe danger at present and are under complete siege."
It further stated that "Israeli forces are now demanding the complete evacuation of the medical staff, patients, and displaced persons from the premises of Al-Amal Hospital and are firing smoke bombs into the area to force those inside to exit."
The Israeli army stated that its forces are targeting "infrastructure" in Khan Younis used as gathering points for many militants. Hamas denies using hospitals for military purposes and accuses Israel of committing war crimes against civilian targets.
