Ukrainian Drones Destroy Power Station in Russia

A Russian official announced on Monday morning the destruction of a power station in the Oryol region in the southwest of the country as a result of an attack by Ukrainian drones. The governor of the Oryol region, Andrei Klyuchkov, stated on the Telegram app that the Ukrainian drone attack caused damage to the power station. He also mentioned that "there were no injuries or fatalities," indicating the destruction of two drones. The exact number of drones that carried out the attack on the power station remains unclear.

On the ground, Russia declared on Sunday that it had taken control of two new towns in eastern Ukraine, continuing its slow advance on the front against an outnumbered and outgunned Ukrainian army. The Russian Defense Ministry reported in its daily update the capture of the towns of Progress and Evgenyevka located in the eastern Donetsk region, where most of the fighting is taking place. It added that "units from the Central Group of Forces liberated the towns of Progress and Evgenyevka during active operations."

For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky acknowledged in his daily video message on Sunday evening that his forces are under pressure in the region. He spoke of significant difficulties in the Donetsk axis, stating that the majority of Russian attacks in recent weeks are concentrated in the Pokrovsk direction, noting that "the most intense enemy attacks are specifically focused there." He added, "Anyone who stops these Russian strikes and destroys these Russian offensive capabilities is fulfilling one of the most important missions in this war."
