Dubai Leads Globally in the Luxury Car Market

Robert Holtshausen, the Director of the Middle East and Africa Market at McLaren, confirmed that Dubai hosting the world's largest McLaren showroom solidifies its leading position globally in the luxury car market. He predicted that it would top sales volume in Europe and the Middle East.

In statements to "Al-Bayan," Holtshausen mentioned, "We expect sales to continue growing in the future, and this success is primarily attributed to the opening of the largest independent McLaren showroom worldwide in Dubai, owned by Performance Tuning. It is anticipated to achieve the highest sales among the brand's retail spaces in the region."

Regarding the number of McLaren showrooms in the country, he said, "We operate in two locations within the area, Dubai and Abu Dhabi, where Dubai hosts the largest independent McLaren showroom globally. McLaren Abu Dhabi operates through a temporary showroom managed by Abu Dhabi Motors while awaiting the opening of a permanent showroom in Abu Dhabi."

Concerning the semiconductor crisis, he noted, "The automotive sector is still facing the repercussions of the global supply chain crisis, but we have successfully managed the supply of semiconductors and other key components carefully to minimize disruptions in the production and delivery of McLaren vehicles. The entire automotive supply chain remains under pressure, but we are working closely with our suppliers to ensure continuity and mitigate impacts on our customers."

On the future of electric cars at McLaren and market opportunities in Dubai for a larger share, he stated, "Dubai is one of the key markets for the proliferation of electric vehicles due to its infrastructure. Innovation remains the cornerstone of McLaren's vision; we are committed to investing in future vehicle technologies, leading advancements in powertrain technologies, carbon fiber manufacturing, lightweight engineering, and more."

He added, "Our strategy is based on three elements: continuing to invest in the development of internal combustion engine technology and producing engines that are stronger and more efficient than ever, expanding hybrid vehicle operations—our efforts in this area began ten years ago with the McLaren P1—and we will soon unveil the hybrid V8 powertrain. We also plan to explore powertrain systems in fully electric vehicles, recognizing the potential in this domain."
