Netanyahu Disturbed by Harris... and Ben Gvir: No Ceasefire, Madam Candidate

The statement made by U.S. Vice President and potential presidential candidate Kamala Harris regarding the war in Gaza has sparked reactions within Israel, while reports indicated that the meeting between President Joe Biden and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was positive. Harris stated before reporters, "We cannot turn a blind eye to these tragedies. We cannot allow ourselves to become numb to the suffering, and I will not be silent," emphasizing that it is time to put an end to the destructive war ongoing in Gaza for more than nine months.

Netanyahu is disturbed. According to the American website "Axios," an Israeli official noted that Harris's statement after her meeting with Netanyahu was much more critical than what she said to him during their meeting. This official added that Netanyahu is disturbed that Harris referred to the exchange deal as an end to the war. The site reported that Israeli officials said Harris did not discuss an immediate ceasefire in Gaza with Netanyahu. Additionally, the site quoted an aide to Harris saying that the meeting between Harris and Netanyahu was serious, and he does not understand what the Israeli officials are talking about.

Meanwhile, Israeli military radio reported that a senior official described Netanyahu's meeting with Biden as "positive," which cannot be said about his meeting with Harris. He expressed hope that Harris's statements would not affect the chances of reaching a deal. A political official also criticized Harris's positions, stating, "Harris's statements contradict the Israeli perspective on Gaza," according to the broadcasting authority.

Smotrich also pointed out that Harris revealed the reality of the deal, which is surrendering to Yahya Sinwar and ending the war. He added that Israel should not fall into this trap.

For his part, Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir addressed Harris, stating: "There will be no ceasefire, Madam Candidate."
