The President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, received the teams from the UAE Pavilion participating in the "Doha Expo 2023 Horticulture" international exhibition held in the Qatari capital from October 2, 2023, to March 28, 2024. During the meeting at Al Shati Palace in Abu Dhabi, the UAE president expressed his appreciation for the efforts made by the teams, which contributed to showcasing the country's rich heritage in environmental care and agricultural support, dating back to the era of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, as well as its quality initiatives and future plans for developing sustainable agriculture solutions.

He congratulated the teams for winning the "Gold Award" for the best self-built pavilion in the exhibition, emphasizing that this success reflects the capabilities and expertise of Emirati talents in participating in international exhibitions and events. The UAE president also praised the spirit of cooperation among those involved in the pavilion, which helped portray a positive image of the UAE and its comprehensive vision in sustainability, alongside innovation and investment in technology to preserve the environment and its resources.

For their part, those responsible for the UAE Pavilion at the Doha Expo 2023 expressed their happiness at meeting Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, confirming that the success of the participation in the exhibition came as a result of his continuous support and commitment to ensuring that the country's participation is meaningful and highlights its vision and achievements at various levels.

The meeting was attended by His Highness Sheikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, advisor for private affairs at the Presidential Court, and several officials.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan witnessed the opening of the "Doha Expo 2023 Horticulture," inaugurated by Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of Qatar, under the slogan "Green Desert, Better Environment" last October.

The UAE participated in the exhibition under the theme "Heritage and Impact," overseen by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation and the National Projects Office. The UAE Pavilion was selected according to criteria centered on the Doha Expo theme, the innovative design of the pavilion, the selection of plant species, the use of sustainable materials in its execution, and the provision of environmental and cultural programs along with a unique experience that familiarized visitors with the UAE's culture and its journey towards sustainability.

The design of the pavilion, covering an area of 2,290 square meters, was inspired by the Ghaf tree, the national tree of the UAE, showcasing its roots, extending branches, and leaves, alongside earthen walls and a roof made from palm fronds. The pavilion also featured a garden of local plants, including fruit trees, flowers, spices, herbs, and medicinal plants among others.
