# Portugal Advances to Euro 2024 Round of 16 After Victory Over Turkey

The Portuguese national team dominated its Turkish counterpart with a 3-0 victory in the match held this evening, as part of the second round of group stage matches in Euro 2024. Portugal's goals were scored by Bernardo Silva (21st minute), an own goal by Salih Uçan (28), and Bruno Fernandes (56).

With this win, Portugal topped Group F with 6 points, officially qualifying for the Round of 16, while the Turkish team remained in second place with 3 points, awaiting the final round to secure their qualification.

Portugal quickly entered the match's atmosphere, and after less than two minutes, they capitalized on a cross from the left side by Bernardo Silva, which was met by Ronaldo, but his shot was easily caught by the goalkeeper. Turkey responded in the sixth minute with a cross from Celik on the right, which Karim Aktürkoç attempted to touch into the net, but he missed the target.

Cristiano attempted to meet a cross, rising higher than everyone else to head it, but the ball went wide of the goal. Bernardo Silva put Portugal ahead after 21 minutes, following an attack initiated by Leão on the left wing, who passed to Nuno Mendes, who then delivered a ground cross deflected by the defense, setting up Bernardo in front of the goal to score.

Bruno nearly surprised the Turkish goalkeeper with a shot that fell in the area but went past the left post. In the 28th minute, Portugal doubled their lead with an own goal by Salih Uçan, who made a critical mistake when attempting to return the ball to his goalkeeper, resulting in it finding the net.

Turkish forward Aktürkoç made a good run through Portugal's defense in the 30th minute and fired a shot on target, which goalkeeper Costa brilliantly saved with his foot, preventing Turkey from scoring. Cristiano received an excellent pass from Bernardo, entering a bit deeper to unleash a powerful shot that soared over Turkey's goal in the 36th minute.

At the beginning of the second half, Martinez made the first substitution of the match, bringing in Pedro Neto for Leão, while Montella replaced Ülker with Yazıcı. The substitute Yazıcı aimed to bring Turkey back into the match, firing a strong shot that Costa was ready for.

In the 56th minute, Vitinha delivered an excellent long ball that the defense failed to clear, allowing Cristiano to break away towards the goal, but he chose to pass to his teammate Bruno, who easily slotted it into the net. Bernardo Silva from the right delivered a perfect cross onto Cristiano's head, but the latter mishandled the shot, allowing the defense to clear it.

Montella, the Turkish coach, sought to score by bringing in team talents, Kenan Yıldız and Arda Güler in the middle of the second half. Portugal had the opportunity to score a fourth goal in the 87th minute when Bernardo Silva received an excellent pass from Bruno deep in the Turkish defense, resulting in a one-on-one with the goalkeeper, but Paindır anticipated and caught the ball.

Bernardo squandered another chance before the end of regulation time after a perfect setup from Cristiano, shooting the ball into the defense instead of passing it to the unmarked Bruno. Turkey struggled to make a convincing appearance in the second half amidst Portugal's solid defensive play and counterattacks, resulting in a dominant 3-0 victory for Ronaldo's teammates.
