Wide Condemnation of the Massacre in Al-Mawasi: Complication of Ceasefire Efforts

Several countries have condemned the massacre perpetrated by Israel against the Palestinian people in the Al-Mawasi area. In its first comment on the massacre, Egypt strongly condemned, in a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Migration on Saturday, the Israeli bombing of the Al-Mawasi area west of Khan Younis, which is filled with displaced persons, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of innocent Palestinian civilians.

Egypt called on Israel to cease its disregard for the lives of unarmed civilians and to adhere to necessary humanitarian standards in compliance with international law and international humanitarian law, emphasizing that such crimes will not become statute-barred and cannot be accepted under any justification.

Egypt reaffirmed that these ongoing violations against the Palestinian people add serious complications to the current efforts to achieve calm and ceasefire, increasing the humanitarian suffering of Palestinians amidst a shameful international silence and impotence. A senior Egyptian source stated: "Israel continues to implement policies that lead to further escalation, which will have dire consequences for the entire region."

The Jordanian Foreign Ministry also strongly condemned Israel's continued aggression against the Gaza Strip and its systematic targeting of civilians and shelters for the displaced, with the latest being the targeting of tents housing displaced persons in Khan Younis in southern Gaza, in an area that Israel had previously classified as safe, resulting in the martyrdom and injury of dozens of Palestinians.

The official spokesperson for the ministry, Ambassador Sufian al-Qudah, condemned the kingdom's outright rejection of Israel's continued violation of the rules of international law and international humanitarian law, its challenge to the international community and its will advocating for an end to the war, its commission of genocide against the Palestinian people in Gaza, and its obstruction of the entry of humanitarian aid into the sector.

Al-Qudah emphasized the necessity for the international community to act immediately and effectively to provide international protection for the Palestinian people and for hospitals and humanitarian organizations that play a significant humanitarian role in providing essential vital services for Palestinians in the sector, which is suffering from an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe due to the ongoing Israeli aggression since October 7.

For its part, the Turkish Foreign Ministry considered Israel's killing of dozens of civilians in Al-Mawasi as "a link in the chain of efforts by the government of Benjamin Netanyahu to eliminate the Palestinians."
