Kamala Harris's campaign has raised over $200 million since last Sunday, with two-thirds of the donations coming from first-time contributors, according to her campaign officials. Harris's aides revealed that they recruited 170,000 new volunteers since last Sunday and organized 2,300 events to rally supporters this week, as reported by the Washington Post.
Fundraising Event
Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro, who is running for vice president, held a fundraising event on Saturday in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, while Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, another potential vice presidential candidate, rallied supporters in Saint Paul, Minnesota, to boost excitement for Harris's efforts. Harris attended a fundraising event on Saturday in the Berkshires, Massachusetts, which was expected to raise $1.4 million for the campaign, according to one of the hosts.
She told the crowd that Trump and his allies have resorted to some "wild lies" about her record, stating, "Some of what he and his running mate say is completely strange," which drew laughter at the Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. "This is the box you've put me in."
Higher Support for Trump
Additionally, a new poll conducted by the Wall Street Journal showed that 49% of registered voters said they support Trump, while 47% supported Harris, within the margin of error. New polls conducted by Fox News in battleground states found that Trump and Harris are statistically tied in Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin, while Harris led by six points in Minnesota.
It is noteworthy that the influx of funds and Democratic enthusiasm has reshaped the presidential race for Harris since President Biden dropped out of the race a week ago, forcing Republican candidate and former President Donald Trump to step out of the comfortable stance he maintained over the past few months, where polls showed him leading Biden in key battleground states. Trump has also begun targeting opportunities to expand the electoral map, including in states like Minnesota, where he held his campaign event on Saturday night.
