Users of social media shared images of a Palestinian child wearing a Cristiano Ronaldo jersey from Al-Nassr, soaked in blood that flowed from him after the Israeli bombing of Gaza. The child, Karim Abu Holi, was injured during the bombardment of his neighbors' house while playing football in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza.
One of the circulating videos shows the child being carried by someone as they rush him to the hospital for first aid to treat his bleeding wounds.
Social media users widely reacted to the injury of the Palestinian child, with one commentator posting two images: one of Ronaldo in his iconic yellow Al-Nassr jersey number 7, lying on the ground in pain after being injured in a match, and another of Karim Abu Holi also lying on the ground, his shirt stained with blood.
Another user wrote in their comment: "Cristiano is a player for Al-Nassr... the injured Palestinian child is Karim Abu Holi." A third user remarked: "The child Karim Abu Holi, who prayed in front of me in the mosque, was injured in the bombing of his neighbors' home while playing football in Deir al-Balah."
The areas of the Gaza Strip have been under continuous Israeli bombardment since October 7, in response to the Al-Aqsa Flood operation carried out by some Palestinian factions against Israel.
