"Mama Rosa": The German Woman Who Saved Hundreds of Migrants

"The only one who deserves respect after my mother is Mama Rosa," expressed thousands of illegal Moroccan migrants who crossed the route to Europe from Greece, revealing their love and immense gratitude for Mrs. Rosa, the head of a charity that cared for them, providing food, medical treatment, accommodation, and care for free.

**Mother of the Migrants**

The news about the illness of the German lady Rosa, who is in critical condition in her country, reminded many of the migrants, a term commonly used for illegal migrants from the Arab Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africans, followed by many migrants from Asia. They expressed their deep gratitude for her through social media, reminiscing about how she dedicated many years to providing valuable services to them. They shared her deeds and what they received from her when they were in dire need of assistance as they crossed the borders into the other continent. Many migrants who passed through Greece, Albania, Montenegro, and reached Bosnia visited her charity in the city of Thessaloniki, Greece.

**Icon of the Migrants**

What made "Mama Rosa" an "icon" of illegal migrants is her direct involvement in treating the migrants herself, as she provided medical services after the exhausting journeys they endured. She offered them medicine and care due to the long distances they walked under harsh weather conditions. Moreover, numerous matching testimonies confirmed that Mrs. Rosa provided the migrants with supplies and clothing and offered them shelter at her charity's premises.

A 32-year-old named Fathi described how he nearly died crossing the borders in his journey to reach Europe. He told "Al Arabiya.net" that he returned to Algeria after a failed experience in Europe. However, he is certain that he will never forget what he experienced, especially on his journey there, which was by land through Turkey and Greece. During his passage in the city of Thessaloniki, he found true humanity embodied in "Mama Rosa." He added that after being deported from Spain back to Algeria after five years of wandering among European countries, he met the lady after hearing about her remarkable actions, explaining that she healed his feet with her own hands from the scars inflicted by walking.

**Humanity Has No Nationality**

In recent days, dozens of migrants, both those in Europe and others who returned to their home countries, shared their stories with "Mama Rosa," and they all agreed that she is the only one deserving of respect after their mothers. They emphasized that "humanity has no nationality."

The term "harraga" is typically used to refer to illegal migrants from the Arab Maghreb and sub-Saharan Africans, as well as many migrants from Asia.
