Iran Warns of Consequences After Trump's Threat of Military Action

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a warning regarding what he describes as misguided strategies and reckless decisions, in response to recent threats made by U.S. President Donald Trump concerning potential new military strikes against Iran.

Ghalibaf asserted that any military escalation would not go unanswered, emphasizing that Iran is fully prepared to handle any potential aggression with unprecedented measures capable of altering the regional balance of power.

In a post on the platform "X," the Iranian official argued that hasty policies could catastrophically reset the region to zero, warning of severe repercussions that might affect energy infrastructure and global markets, while also dragging the region into prolonged instability.

Ghalibaf stated that any new confrontation could create an "endless quagmire" persisting for years, alluding to the political, economic, and security fallout that a significant regional conflict might trigger.

In his concluding remarks, the Iranian official vowed that the region and the world would witness a "different face of Iran" if military pressures and threats persist, affirming Iran's readiness to defend its national interests and security.

These statements come amid escalating tensions between Tehran and Washington, following President Trump's announcement that the United States might carry out a "very severe strike" on Iran, highlighting his interest in controlling Kharg Island, a critical hub of Iran's oil infrastructure.

The exchange of threats between the two sides raises growing concerns about the implications of any potential confrontation on regional security and the stability of global energy markets, given the strategic significance of oil facilities and maritime passages in the Gulf.
