Israeli Forces Unearth Hezbollah’s Drone Production Facility in Underground Lebanese Site

The Times of Israel has revealed that the Israeli military discovered an underground facility in Southern Lebanon, believed to be used by Hezbollah for producing, assembling, and launching Iranian-made drones aimed at Israel.

According to the report, the facility is located beneath the southern village of Majdal Zoun, approximately six kilometers from the Israeli border. It was constructed within a mountain and fortified with bomb-resistant steel doors. Israeli military officials disclosed that the facility was completed over the past decade with direct Iranian support, including funding and planning.

During a media tour organized by the Israeli army, officers detailed that the tunnel extends hundreds of meters within the mountain and reaches a depth of nearly 29 meters below the surface. They noted that the level of construction and equipment surpasses previous discoveries of Hezbollah tunnels and facilities in Lebanon.

The Israeli account indicates Hezbollah used the site to assemble Iranian-made drones with parts smuggled into Lebanon, preparing them for offensive missions against Israel. The Israeli military reportedly found about 50 drones equipped with warheads weighing around 30 kilograms each, alongside nearly eight tons of explosives.

Israeli officers highlighted that these drones resemble those used in past attacks on Israeli targets, with some capable of flying distances between 200 and 500 kilometers, allowing them to reach various areas within Israel.

The facility also reportedly features four launch openings equipped with special doors, enabling drones to be deployed directly from within the mountain toward Israeli territory. The Israeli military described the site as akin to an "underground airbase" and a fully-fledged drone factory.

The report added that Israeli forces targeted the facility during the 2024 conflict with Hezbollah to neutralize it, but the group attempted to rehabilitate it later. Amid renewed military operations in the area, Israeli forces advanced to Majdal Zoun and seized the site following clashes that reportedly resulted in the deaths of several Hezbollah members.

Thanks to gaining control over the facility, Israeli authorities reported obtaining Iranian drones of this model intact for the first time, providing significant intelligence and technical insights.

The Times of Israel concluded by noting that the Israeli military plans to completely destroy the facility after completing surveys and inspections within its tunnel network.
