The Iranian judiciary has referred cleric and politician Mohammad Bagher Kharazi to the Special Court for Clerics, initiating legal and urgent criminal proceedings following his recent statements that sparked widespread controversy.
Iran's judicial spokesperson, Asghar Jahangir, confirmed Kharazi's official summons, noting that the investigation falls exclusively within the jurisdiction of the special court for clerics. He assured that the outcomes of these proceedings will be made public once the judicial review is complete.
Kharazi, who holds the position of Secretary-General of "Hezbollah Iran," launched a public attack on President Masoud Pezeshkian, labeling him as "inappropriate" for the presidency and accusing him of lacking sufficient awareness of revolutionary and Islamic Republic issues. He also sharply criticized the Guardian Council for allowing his candidacy and attacked advisors close to the leadership.
Kharazi's remarks extended beyond domestic issues, claiming that Pezeshkian resigned numerous times and hinting at the Supreme Leader's stance, which prompted official denials and refutations from the offices of the leadership and presidency. Additionally, his provocative call to transfer domestic unrest and incite ethnic and social strife within the United States has drawn attention.
