Nabih Berri Warns of Rising Threats in Southern Lebanon

Nabih Berri, the Speaker of the Lebanese Parliament, emphasized the crucial importance of the presence of UNIFIL forces in southern Lebanon. He highlighted their essential role in maintaining security in the south and supporting the Lebanese army's deployment across the territory up to the international borders according to resolution 1701.

In an interview with "Al-Joumhouria," Berri stated, "The termination of UNIFIL's mandate in the south is the greatest mistake and crime committed against the region. Such termination would mean the dismantling of resolution 1701, which is more critical than ever to fully implement and ensure UNIFIL continues its mission."

Berri warned against Israel's intentions and the dangers of its actions in the south, "particularly its intensified assaults on towns, villages, and residential areas, as well as the extensive bombings of southern villages. These attacks not only destroy their infrastructure and completely obliterate life within them but also cause severe cracks and fissures in their foundations."
