In a significant development for Lebanese trade, Minister of Public Works and Transport Fayez Rasamny, representing Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, alongside the Saudi Ambassador to Lebanon and the head of the Higher Customs Council, inspected the Masnaa border point. They reviewed the new 'scanner' device as it officially became operational, marking the resumption of Lebanese product exports to Saudi Arabia.
Rasamny announced at Masnaa the start of Lebanese exports to Saudi Arabia, stating that this move represents an important phase for the Lebanese economy and trade exchange.
He expressed gratitude to the Saudi leadership for their decision to resume accepting Lebanese exports and confirmed that Lebanese authorities are working on regulating border crossings and developing export mechanisms to enhance trust in Lebanese products and facilitate their access to foreign markets.
Regarding land crossings, Rasamny revealed ongoing regular meetings with the Syrian side to develop the economies of both countries and ease transportation and trade.
He also announced that work is underway to open the Abbasiyah Crossing. Operating it will help reduce congestion and pressure at the Masnaa Crossing, providing an additional outlet for truck movement and land trade.
