A European Union military delegation, part of the 'CSDP FFM' mission, held a meeting at the Beirut Port Management and Investment on Thursday. The meeting was attended by the Director General of Land and Maritime Transport, Brigadier General Mazen Bassbous, and focused on exploring ways to enhance cooperation and coordination in security and safety measures, and to improve the existing procedures at the port.
The Chairman of the Board and General Manager of Beirut Port, Marwan Nafeh, opened the meeting with a speech highlighting the major challenges the port has faced. He emphasized the importance of developing and strengthening the port's capabilities to reclaim its pivotal role among the Mediterranean's ports.
Nafeh underscored the significance of collaboration with the European Union and leveraging its extensive experience in advancing security and safety systems, as well as implementing international standards used in global ports.
