Syria: Fatalities and Injuries from War Remnants Explosion in Idlib Countryside

The Syrian Civil Defense reported that three civilians—a man, his wife, and his brother—died, and six others, including children, were injured in a preliminary count. This was due to an explosion in a house in the village of Ain al-Qasab near the city of Jisr al-Shughur in the western countryside of Idlib, late Friday night.

Channels 'Al-Arabiya' and 'Al-Hadath' confirmed from sources the sound of an explosion in the Jisr al-Shughur region of western Idlib, caused by war remnants.

Ali Al-Lari, Director of the Civil Defense Center in Jisr al-Shughur, told the 'Syrian News Channel' that the explosion occurred inside a house, resulting in the deaths of three people and injuries to six others, noting that this is a preliminary toll.

He indicated that civil defense teams are working at the explosion site.

In related news, Al-Lari told the official Syrian news agency 'SANA' that civil defense teams were promptly dispatched to the scene, initiating search and rescue operations while simultaneously providing medical assistance to the injured.

He added that preliminary findings suggest the explosion was caused by explosive materials used in fishing, stored inside the home.

Dr. Mustafa Bagour, the medical director of the Jisr al-Shughur Surgical Hospital, noted, 'The hospital received cases from the explosion site, including a deceased 35-year-old man and six injuries comprising a 45-year-old woman, a young man with shrapnel wounds, and three children.'

He added, 'Two of them were transferred to the neurosurgery department at the Surgical Clinics Hospital in Idlib City, the third child to the orthopedics department, and a man in his fifties with chest bruises is receiving treatment at the hospital.'
