President Aoun Praises General Security: A Pillar of National Stability

President Joseph Aoun extended his congratulations to Major General Hassan Choukair, Director-General of General Security, and to the officers, soldiers, and employees on the occasion of the 81st anniversary of the General Security's establishment. He expressed pride in the rich history of this prominent security institution, marked by sacrifices and dedication to safeguarding the nation’s security, protecting its stability, and controlling its borders while serving citizens and residents with integrity and responsibility.
President Aoun remarked:
“This occasion comes as Lebanon navigates a critical and exceptional phase in its history, where economic, social, and security challenges intertwine, placing state institutions upon the trial of resilience and readiness. Amidst these harsh conditions, the Directorate General of General Security has proven to be a stabilizing pillar for national security, with its personnel continuing their national, logistical, and security missions with high efficiency, unyielding resolve in the face of crises.
Today, the reliance on General Security and all military and security institutions grows as a bet on the endurance of the state and the rule of law. The General Security serves as the frontline defense for societal security, diligently overseeing national sovereignty, and reflecting Lebanon’s civil and institutional face by maintaining readiness to confront security threats and challenges, combating terrorism and organized crime in its various forms, and enforcing laws with firmness and fairness while providing services to all with transparency and discipline, preserving internal cohesion by ensuring citizen safety and institutional stability, and overcoming livelihood challenges with willpower and a sense of duty.
The current economic and financial crisis, affecting personnel in General Security and their counterparts in military and security institutions as well as all Lebanese citizens, is being addressed by the government through firm resolve, institutional work, and collaborative efforts to restore vitality and build a better future. I assure the General Security workforce, leadership, officers, and individuals that their sacrifices are a source of pride for all Lebanese and will not be in vain.
Wishing General Security prosperity for continuous Lebanon and its people’s well-being."
