A recent study confirmed that the COVID vaccine developed by the German company "BioNTech" in collaboration with the American company "Pfizer" also protects against the coronavirus variant that emerged in India (Delta) (B.1.617.1). Scientists, under the supervision of Pei-yung Shih from the University of Texas at Galveston, stated in the journal "Nature" that the vaccine also protects against several other variants, such as variant (B.1.525.1), which first appeared in Nigeria.
The researchers examined 20 blood samples from 15 individuals who received two doses of the BioNTech-Pfizer vaccine and tested the response to different coronavirus variants. It was found that the effectiveness of antibodies was lower with the variants compared to the strain of the coronavirus isolated in January 2020; however, it remained "strong." Previous studies and datasets have reported similar results.
