Tunisian authorities have allowed, for the first time since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in March 2020, the presence of crowds in stadiums. They granted permission for fans to attend the match between Esperance and Egyptian Al Ahly on Saturday in the first leg of the CAF Champions League semifinals at the Hamadi Agrebi Stadium in Rades. The Tunisian Football Federation told AFP that up to five thousand people would be allowed entry to the Rades stadium, which has a capacity of 60,000 spectators. A club official, Riyad Ben Nour, confirmed to Mosaique Radio that all attendees must wear masks and present a negative COVID-19 test. He added that a free testing station would be opened for ticket holders on Friday. This match will be the first held with an audience in Tunisia in over a year, following the suspension of competitions in March 2020 and their resumption behind closed doors during the summer. The African Club has also submitted a request to play in front of fans in the Tunis Cup semifinals against Union Monastir on Sunday in Rades.
