Saudi Arabia and Iraq Discuss Security Cooperation

Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi discussed several files, including security cooperation in the fight against ISIS, with Saudi Deputy Minister of Defense Prince Khalid bin Salman on Tuesday. The media office of the Prime Minister stated that "Prime Minister Mustafa Al-Kadhimi received today, Tuesday, Deputy Minister of Defense and Vice President of the Military Industries Authority in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Prince Khalid bin Salman, and the accompanying official delegation."

Al-Kadhimi emphasized, according to the statement, "the importance of developing relations between the two brotherly countries in various economic and political fields, in addition to security cooperation in the fight against remnants of ISIS terrorists." He pointed out the significance of activating the positive outcomes resulting from the recent meeting of the Iraqi-Saudi Coordination Committee and advancing the file of Saudi investments in Iraq in the fields of reconstruction and various other sectors.

He clarified that "the current phase of bilateral relations is witnessing fruitful steps that serve the interests of both countries and enhance the security and stability of the region, as well as establishing sustainable development within it," noting his "directives to security leaders in the Ministry of Defense to enhance security cooperation with their Saudi counterparts to serve the stability and internal security of both countries."
