The General Directorate of Internal Security Forces - Public Relations Division issued a statement revealing the details of an unusual case involving Lebanese citizen "A. A.," born in 1989. On August 19, 2026, A. A. reported to the Dahr al-Baidar police station that he was the victim of a robbery, losing $8,000 in the town of Baraj. This sum belonged to the medical equipment company he works for.
However, as the investigation continued, police officers discovered inconsistencies with A. A.’s story, concluding that no robbery had occurred. Confronted with the evidence, A. A. confessed to stealing the amount himself. He had hidden the money in his home in Hammana and fabricated the robbery tale to cover up his theft.
Subsequently, a police unit was dispatched to Hammana, where they searched his property and successfully recovered the entire stolen sum.
A. A. was arrested following directives from the relevant judicial authorities, and the full amount was returned to the company owner.
