A Day of Twitter's Glee: How the Blue Bird Commented on Facebook's Misfortune

Under the title "A Day of Twitter's Glee: How the Blue Bird Commented on Facebook's Misfortune," the Arabic site published a report discussing Twitter's reaction to the outage that affected Facebook. It noted that a storm of comments erupted on Twitter in the past hours following a "gleeful" tweet about the troubles faced by Facebook and its subsidiaries (Instagram and WhatsApp). Simple words such as "Hello to the entire world, literally" were enough to trigger a wave of mockery and comments online. The tweet shared by Twitter's official account last night was interpreted as a veiled ridicule of Facebook's outage.

A sarcastic comment from Jack!

Jack Dorsey, the CEO of the famous microblogging site, added fuel to the fire with his remark below the aforementioned Twitter tweet, saying, "I thought those platforms (Instagram and WhatsApp) were encrypted," referencing their supposed resistance to hacking.

The strangest comment came from McDonald's, which said, "Hello, how can I serve you."

Jack's comment on Twitter was sarcastically, "Or 59.6 million chicken nuggets for my friends," in reference to the number of subscribers who may have recently flocked to him after the disruption of Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram services.

Facebook's Clarification

It is worth noting that Facebook, the social media giant, announced today that incorrect adjustments in settings were the main reason behind the outage that deprived 3.5 billion users for about six hours from accessing Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp. Furthermore, it clarified that its engineering teams discovered that adjustments to the main routers coordinating traffic between data centers caused issues that led to a disruption in internet connectivity. The service outage began around noon Eastern Time (1600 GMT) and gradually resumed operation after several hours.
