The U.S. State Department announced that it will suspend $700 million in aid aimed at supporting the democratic transition in Sudan, following the military's takeover of the transitional government on Monday. State Department spokesperson Ned Price stated, "In light of these developments, the United States is suspending the provision of aid from the $700 million in emergency assistance allocated to support Sudan economically," adding that none of those funds had been disbursed, and thus the entire amount has been suspended.
