The Moroccan national team has become the first Arab team to advance to the final round of the African qualifiers for the "Qatar 2022" World Cup, following their 4-1 victory over Guinea on Tuesday. The Moroccan team secured their place in the final round by achieving their fourth win from four matches against Guinea in Rabat, in a postponed match from the second round of Group 9.
The goals for "Atlas Lions" were scored by Ayoub El Kaabi, Selim Amallah, and Sofiane Boufal, in the 21st, 42nd, 65th, and 89th minutes, respectively, while Mamadou Kani scored a consolation goal for Guinea in the 31st minute. Morocco increased their points total to 12 with a perfect record, leading by eight points over second-place Guinea-Bissau with two rounds remaining.
As a result, Morocco became the first Arab team to reach the decisive round of the African qualifiers for the Qatar World Cup, and the second overall team to qualify for this stage, after Senegal, which also achieved a perfect record in Group 8, earning 12 points in their first four matches. Eight other teams will join Morocco and Senegal in the decisive round of the Qatar World Cup qualifiers, where each pair will play home and away matches, with a total of 5 teams from Africa qualifying for the World Cup finals.
