A pregnant woman, who had been in a coma due to complications from a COVID-19 infection, woke up to discover that she had given birth a week earlier without knowing. Kelsey Routs was 28 weeks pregnant when she was hospitalized suffering from breathing problems after contracting COVID-19. She fell into a coma when doctors performed an emergency cesarean section that resulted in the birth of baby Kobe nearly 12 weeks early. The British mother finally woke up seven days later and met her newborn. She told The Sun newspaper: "To wake up from a coma and find out that you've given birth to a baby is amazing, we’re all so happy." After 40 days in the hospital, doctors determined that the newborn was strong enough to go home, while the mother described her delivery experience as a miracle.
