Biden at the Climate Summit: We Face an Existential Threat and It's Time to Act

U.S. President Joe Biden stated on Monday that it is time to act, adding that the world faces an existential threat due to climate change. In his speech at the climate summit "COP26" taking place in Glasgow, Biden mentioned that the United States is experiencing extreme climate phenomena. He added, "We have not yet seen the worst of climate change... The Glasgow summit must be a new starting point for action against climate change." The U.S. president revealed: "We have polluted the climate and environment, and it is imperative to change our practices." He noted that his country will significantly reduce greenhouse gases from now until 2030 and will work on generating energy from wind. He continued, "We must harness technology to increase the efficiency of alternative energy," indicating that "action to tackle the climate crisis will create new jobs." Biden emphasized that Washington "will lead the fight against climate change," highlighting that his administration will work to "assist developing countries in confronting this phenomenon."
