Venezuelan Economy Declines Due to U.S. Sanctions

U.S. sanctions have contributed to the deterioration of the economy in Venezuela and created obstacles for humanitarian workers, primarily by significantly reducing the country's crude oil export revenues.

Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro stated last September that Venezuela experienced a dramatic decline in oil revenues of 99% between 2014 and 2019. This situation has led U.S. President Joe Biden to consider adjusting his country's policy toward Venezuela, while largely maintaining the unsuccessful goal of former President Donald Trump to oust the leftist leader Nicolas Maduro.
