The luxury sports car manufacturer Porsche has confirmed its intention to release an electric version of its "Macan," a sports utility vehicle (SUV), in 2023, coinciding with the launch of the electric version of its sedan, the "Taycan." Although it shares the same name as the traditional engine model "Porsche Macan," the company states that the electric version will be offered alongside the traditional model, not as a replacement.

While Porsche is eager to share details about the development process of the electric Macan, which includes digital testing using computer models to simulate real vehicles and external specifications, the company is currently focused on ensuring the best performance for its SUV.

In a media meeting, Michael Steiner, a member of Porsche's Executive Board, announced that the German company aims to maximize the range of the electric Macan to match that of the electric Taycan, which currently stands at 227 miles before needing a battery recharge, according to data from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.

While the electric Taycan is available in two battery package options, it is likely that the "Macan EV" will be released with only one battery option in North America, according to Steiner. He noted that while Porsche is prepared to offer the electric Macan in two battery configurations, customers in North America prefer the larger battery option that provides a longer range.
