Sevilla Coach Accuses Refereeing of Eliminating Him from Copa del Rey

The Camp Nou stadium hosted the match between Spanish club Barcelona and its guest Sevilla in the second leg of the semi-finals of the Copa del Rey.

Barcelona advanced to the Copa del Rey final after a dramatic victory over Sevilla, winning three goals to nil after extra time, following a 2-0 victory in regular time.

Sevilla coach Julen Lopetegui stated that his team was "frustrated and sad" after being eliminated from the Copa del Rey. He spoke about the penalty awarded to his team after a challenge by Barcelona's Oscar Mingueza on Lucas Ocampos, who took the penalty but was saved by Barça's goalkeeper Ter Stegen.

The coach criticized the referee's decision, saying, "You saw what happened and you can judge like I do. As coaches, if we publicly express our opinions about referees, we might face punishment, but a clear scoring opportunity deserved a yellow card," referring to the penalty awarded against Mingueza.

He also added that Clément Lenglet "had a handball, but the (referee) did not see it." In conclusion, Sevilla coach Lopetegui said, "We witnessed the bitter side of football, and we were deprived of a final we worked very hard to reach in the last moments of the game."
