Reports: Concerning Practices May Have Led to Baldwin Killing the Cinematographer

More reports have emerged regarding concerning practices during the filming of the Western movie "Rust" as actor Alec Baldwin sought to console the family of the cinematographer he accidentally killed during production. Media reports and social media have raised questions about safety procedures during the low-budget film, with many crew members and their assistants going on a tour just hours before the incident.

In one of the more alarming reports, the celebrity news site TMZ cited unidentified sources connected to the production, stating that the gun handed to Baldwin had previously been used by crew members for target practice with live ammunition. According to court documents, Baldwin received the gun from Dave Halls, the film's assistant director, who has over 20 years of experience in the field.

Baldwin was seen visibly shocked outside a hotel in Santa Fe, New Mexico, embracing Matt Hutchins, the husband of the late Halyna Hutchins, and their nine-year-old son, talking to them. Baldwin (63) stated that he was shocked and deeply saddened by Hutchins's death. Authorities in Santa Fe reported that Halyna Hutchins (42) was killed, while director Joel Souza was injured when Baldwin fired live ammunition from a gun that had been handed to him, with the assurance that it was unloaded. In a statement read at a candlelight vigil to mourn the cinematographer, Matt Hutchins described the death of his wife as a "terrible loss."
