Cry for Help on Facebook: Elimination of a Criminal Who Terrorized a Town in Egypt

Egyptian security forces managed to eliminate a dangerous criminal who threatened to burn a girl and her family, causing panic among the residents of the town of Tamia in Sohag, northern Egypt. In recent days, a video shared on Facebook by a girl from Tamia named Omnia Mohammed Khaled garnered significant attention and concern in Egypt.

In the video, the girl stated that she lives on Jawad Hosny Street and is requesting the arrest of the criminal who has besieged their home and street with bombs, firearms, and gas cylinders. She revealed that the suspect who is threatening to burn her and her family is named Amr Al-Shafie Jaber Suleiman Al-Ahmar.

Security forces surrounded the apartment where the dangerous criminal had barricaded himself for days until they managed to eliminate him after exchanging gunfire. The Ministry of Interior disclosed the details of the incident, mentioning that they had monitored a video on social media in which a girl was pleading for help due to threats from one of her relatives, who is unemployed and resides in Sohag, terrorizing and threatening her father and their area over financial disputes between them.

The ministry noted that upon examining the incident, it was found that the suspect had previously been charged in 19 cases, including premeditated murder, firearms offenses, drug-related charges, assault, and attempted murder. He was wanted for enforcement of sentences in two cases, including one where he was sentenced to death by hanging and another for three years in prison. He was also sentenced to 11 months in five cases involving "embezzlement and assault" and was under investigation for firing live rounds.

Following legal procedures, the authorities targeted him at his residence. Upon sensing the forces, he opened fire on them, leading to a gunfight in which he was killed. A machine gun, four magazines, and several rounds of ammunition were found in his possession. The prosecution has been notified and is undertaking an investigation.
