French television channel "BFM" reported on Saturday that Paris has canceled the planned fireworks displays and celebrations typically held on the Champs-Élysées on New Year's Eve. This decision is in line with government regulations to prevent the spread of the Omicron variant. French Prime Minister Jean Castex announced on Friday a ban on large public parties and fireworks displays on New Year's Eve, and recommended that citizens, even those who have been vaccinated, undergo a COVID-19 test before attending New Year gatherings.
