His Excellency the President General of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque, Sheikh Dr. Abdul Rahman bin Abdulaziz Al-Sudais, launched the "Virtual Black Stone" initiative in his office at the presidency. This initiative was launched by the Agency for the Affairs of Exhibitions and Museums, represented by the General Administration for Digital Exhibitions, in collaboration with the King Abdulaziz Institute for Research on Hajj and Umrah at Umm Al-Qura University. The aim of the initiative is to use virtual reality (VR) and digital experiences that simulate real reality.
His Excellency emphasized the importance of creating a virtual simulation environment to engage as many senses as possible, such as sight, sound, touch, and even smell, to convey all outputs related to the Two Holy Mosques and the efforts made by the government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques - may Allah protect him - for the entire world, through the virtual world, mimicking reality clearly and authentically.
He pointed out that the Two Holy Mosques possess immense religious and historical significance that should be digitized and made accessible to everyone, given the available resources and generous support from our wise leadership.
