In light of the ongoing spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, Horst Seehofer, the German Interior Minister, stated that his country intends to reduce international air traffic to almost zero.

According to Seehofer's statement to the daily newspaper Bild, the danger posed by various viral variants requires us to review and discuss strict government measures, including reducing air traffic to Germany to almost zero. Long queues have accumulated at the German-Czech border after German authorities required travelers arriving from countries where new variants have been detected to present a recent negative test upon arrival.
