Erdogan Threatens to Launch Attack in Northern Iraq

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan commented on the removal of what he referred to as "terrorists" from Sinjar in northern Iraq, stating, "I have a phrase I always say: we might come unexpectedly one night."

In remarks to journalists after Friday prayers in Istanbul, he emphasized that his country may intervene itself "to remove the terrorists of the PKK organization" from the Sinjar district in northern Iraq. The Turkish Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday the killing of 8 PKK elements, indicating that the strike targeted positions in the Gara region of northern Iraq.
