Qatar's Emir Meets Saudi Crown Prince in Riyadh to Discuss Strengthening Relations

The Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in the Saudi capital, Riyadh, during his participation in the Green Middle East Initiative summit on Monday. The Qatari news agency reported that the meeting reviewed the strong relations between the two countries and prospects for supporting and developing them in a way that serves the mutual interests of both nations and their brotherly peoples. Additionally, they discussed developments in regional and international situations and the topics on the summit's agenda.

Sheikh Tamim also met with the Crown Prince of Kuwait, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, on the sidelines of their participation in the summit. During this meeting, they reviewed the solid brotherly relations between the two countries and ways to support and enhance them, as well as discussing the latest regional and international developments and the topics on the summit's agenda, as stated by the Qatari agency.

The Green Middle East Initiative summit took place in Riyadh on Monday, attended by prominent leaders from the region and the world, aiming to enhance cooperation and unify efforts to implement shared environmental commitments. Among the main topics of the summit were ways to tackle the climate change crisis, the challenges of energy transition, and new investment opportunities in the green economy, according to the summit's website.

Last Saturday, Saudi Arabia announced the launch of an initial package of qualitative initiatives for a green (environmentally friendly) economy with investments amounting to 700 billion riyals ($186.9 billion). In March, the Kingdom announced the "Saudi Green" and "Middle East Green" initiatives to improve quality of life by increasing reliance on clean energy, neutralizing the impacts of oil, and protecting the environment.
