A Spanish news report has revealed that there are no legal grounds to punish Real Madrid for its involvement in the creation of the European Super League. UEFA President Aleksandar Ceferin had threatened to penalize Real Madrid, mentioning the possibility of excluding them from the Champions League semi-finals against Chelsea.
The UEFA Executive Committee is scheduled to meet on Friday to finalize the locations for the upcoming European Championship and analyze the events of the past week.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Marca," the Executive Committee does not have the authority to sanction Real Madrid or any club, as the responsible body for sanctions is the Disciplinary Committee. There is no legal basis for any potential actions, and the Court of Arbitration for Sport would nullify any decision if necessary.
The newspaper, which consulted several sports law experts, stated, "Real Madrid has not violated any articles of the competition regulations, and there is no provision indicating that creating or presenting a parallel tournament is incompatible."
