Britain announced today, Monday, that the "Omicron" variant accounts for about 40% of COVID-19 cases in the capital, London. British Health Minister Sajid Javid stated in an interview with Sky News that "everything we know about Omicron is that it spreads at a high rate, which is something we've never seen before; infections double every two to three days." He pointed out that "this means we are facing a significant wave of infections; once again, we are in a race between the vaccine and the virus." He added that Britain has not recorded any confirmed deaths from Omicron so far, noting that "only 10 cases required hospitalization in England." He said, "Omicron may represent about 40% of infections in London."
