Former U.S. President Donald Trump has been awarded a black belt in taekwondo, a sport he has never practiced in his life. The black belt in taekwondo is the highest certification in this martial art. According to British network "Sky News," Trump received this honorary certificate from the president of the World Taekwondo Academy, South Korean Lee Dong-Soo. The certificate and belt were presented at Trump's home in Mar-a-Lago, Florida. The certificate Trump received is referred to as "Dan Nine." The academy stated on its Facebook page, citing Trump, that he said upon receiving the certificate: "It is an honor for me to receive the honorary Dan certificate, and I believe that taekwondo is a great martial art for self-defense." The academy emphasized that the honor "has no relation to any other political issues." This certification means that Trump now holds the same rank as Russian President Vladimir Putin, who received the honorary Dan Nine level in 2013. Like Trump, President Putin has never practiced taekwondo. Ironically, the famous American actor Chuck Norris has been practicing taekwondo for many years and has only achieved an eighth-degree black belt in the sport. The news has drawn criticism on social media, particularly from taekwondo practitioners, with one individual stating that as a practitioner and black belt holder, he is unhappy with the news, especially since the ninth rank is very significant.
