French club Paris Saint-Germain concluded their UEFA Champions League group stage campaign by defeating Belgian side Club Brugge 4-1 on Tuesday. The Parisian team managed to take an early lead just under two minutes into the match with a goal from young striker Kylian Mbappé, who added a second goal five minutes later. Seven minutes before the end of the first half, Argentine Lionel Messi scored the third goal for the hosts, leading PSG to a 3-0 advantage at halftime.
The visitors managed to reduce the deficit through Mats Rits in the 68th minute, but Messi returned to score his second goal from a penalty in the 76th minute.
In the same group, English side Manchester City suffered an away defeat against German club Leipzig with a score of 2-1. City fell behind with goals from Dominik Szoboszlai and André Silva in the 24th and 71st minutes, respectively, before Algerian Riyad Mahrez reduced the margin for the visitors five minutes later.
While Citizens were searching for an equalizer, Kyle Walker was sent off eight minutes before the end of normal time, leaving the visitors to finish the match with 10 players.
The results did not affect City's standing as they remained at the top of Group A with 12 points, while PSG increased their total to 11 points in second place. Leipzig secured a spot in the Europa League by finishing third with 7 points, while Brugge ended up at the bottom of the table with 3 points less.
