On Tuesday, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon, Michael Issa, visited Southern Lebanon to assess the situation on the ground and review what the American Embassy termed as "progress achieved and existing challenges in the pilot areas."
The U.S. Embassy stated in a post on platform "X" that Issa's visit allowed him to gain firsthand insights into the situation and challenges faced by the southern regions.
It affirmed the United States' commitment to supporting the Lebanese government and military in strengthening state authority, protecting civilians, and providing services, alongside creating the conditions conducive to achieving lasting peace and stability.
The embassy added, "We will continue working with all stakeholders to support further security and stability in Southern Lebanon."
In his remarks during the visit, the U.S. ambassador focused on the conditions of residents who have suffered from displacement and the aftermath of security tensions.
Issa said, "My visit to Southern Lebanon allowed me to directly observe the challenges facing local communities there."
He added, "I strongly empathize with the residents who have endured displacement and uncertainty, and I understand their urgent desire to return home and rebuild their lives with safety and dignity."
The visit carries a dual message from America, combining affirmation of support for Lebanese state institutions, particularly the army, and focusing on the humanitarian and security conditions of residents in southern regions.
Through the visit, Washington renewed its commitment to continue working with relevant parties to bolster security and stability in Southern Lebanon, creating conditions that allow residents to return and rebuild their lives.
