During an official visit to Islamabad, Lebanese Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Ahmed Hajjar, met with Pakistan's Prime Minister, Mohammad Shehbaz Sharif.
Minister Hajjar conveyed greetings from Lebanon’s Prime Minister, Nauf Salam, and emphasized Lebanon's desire to enhance bilateral cooperation with Pakistan. The discussions centered on developing relations in various fields, especially in security, to serve mutual interests and improve coordination in addressing regional challenges.
Prime Minister Sharif welcomed Hajjar and stressed the importance of strengthening the fraternal relationship between the two countries, extending his warm wishes to the Lebanese leadership.
Sharif strongly condemned Israeli aggression against Lebanon, reaffirming Pakistan’s unwavering solidarity with Lebanon and its people during these difficult times, as well as its support for Lebanon's sovereignty and integrity.
The meeting included Pakistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Ishaq Dar; Minister of Interior and Anti-Narcotics, Mohsin Naqvi; Minister of Housing, Riaz Hussain Pirzada; and Minister of State for Interior, Talal Chaudhry.
Representing Lebanon were the Lebanese Ambassador to Pakistan, Abdul Aziz Issa; the Director General of the Internal Security Forces, Major General Raed Abdullah; the Secretary of the Central Internal Security Council, Brigadier General Sami Nasif; and the Head of the Information Division of the Internal Security Forces, Brigadier General Mahmoud Qubaisi.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Hajjar signed a Memorandum of Understanding regarding prisoner exchange between the Republics of Lebanon and Pakistan, with Naqvi signing on behalf of Pakistan, in the presence of Prime Minister Sharif.
