UAE Foreign Minister: Peace Agreements are Important for Stability

Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, stated on Wednesday that peace agreements are crucial for stability in the region. During a joint press conference with the foreign ministers of the United States and Israel, Abdullah bin Zayed emphasized, "Our presence here reaffirms our commitment to the necessity of changing matters in a positive direction," highlighting that the United States is "serious" about changing the discourse in the region.

The UAE foreign minister noted, "I am confident that as we achieve success in our relations with Israel, this will not only encourage the countries in the region but will also inspire the Palestinians and Israelis to pursue this path and be ready to move in this direction." He added, "We have growing relations with Israel, and we are pleased with that. We always rely on our friends in the United States, which is important for us and helps us improve matters further."

For his part, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken stated that establishing normal relations between Arab countries and Israel will contribute to stability. He continued, "We are working for a bright future for the peoples of the Middle East," stressing the importance of peaceful coexistence in the region. Blinken remarked, "Israel has the right to defend itself, and we are committed to ensuring Israel's security," adding, "And the Palestinians and Israelis have the right to live in peace and stability, and we will work to achieve this goal."

Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid revealed that his country seeks to expand the scope of peace agreements in the region, aiming to make these agreements "inspiring for other countries." He stated, "We have written a new chapter in history based on moderation and foresight." He emphasized that "the partnership between Israel and the UAE is based on coexistence, economic prosperity, and combating terrorism and extremism," noting that "there are leaders in the Middle East who believe in peace."
