Reports have revealed that Mohamed Salah, the star forward for Liverpool, prefers to remain in the Premier League rather than transferring to FC Barcelona. Liverpool has been negotiating with Salah’s agent for an extension of the Egyptian star’s contract, which expires in the summer of 2023, but disagreements over salary are hindering these negotiations, raising doubts about his future at Anfield.
The 29-year-old Egyptian is linked to several European clubs, with Barcelona being one of the most prominent. However, according to the Spanish newspaper "El Nacional," which is close to Barcelona, Salah does not favor a move to Barcelona and would prefer to play for Manchester City if he leaves Liverpool.
The newspaper also noted that City would have no difficulty in meeting Salah's agent's financial demands and could offer a salary of 20 million euros per year, something Barcelona cannot currently do due to its severe financial crisis. Salah is currently in his fifth season with Liverpool since joining the team in the summer of 2017 from AS Roma, and he has played 21 matches across all competitions this season, scoring 20 goals and providing 9 assists.
