The Saudi newspaper Al-Marsad revealed the cause of Hazzazi's death, denying rumors that he collapsed during exercise in a gym, suffered from low insulin levels, or contracted COVID-19, which led to his death. The newspaper stated: "Social media users circulated a voice message via WhatsApp confirming that Hazzazi's death was due to a severe epileptic seizure, as he had been a long-time sufferer of epilepsy." Hazzazi is considered one of the prominent Arab athletes in bodybuilding and previously achieved fourth place in the World Championship, having been crowned the champion of Saudi Arabia last year in the over 90 kg category.
